The coldest evening of the winter was steamy Tuesday Night at the Hauser and Wirth Gala (http://www.hauserwirth.com/) at The New York Public Library. The visionaries at Creative Edge (http://www.creativeedgeparties.com/) transformed this bastion of NYC beauty into a sultry haven for artists from all over the world — and we helped with our edgy and uncompromising VIPER TRIO . Always in favor of blurring the lines, our Vipers take the traditionally elegant and soothing sound of violin to a whole new level with an electric charge and a coat of hot pink paint, (http://theviperquartet.html).”
The sidewalks of New York City shine during the holiday season and music is all around. We love every minute of it – especially when we get to orchestrations-ify the holiday hum.
Kiki and Scott exchanged vows at The Norwood Club (http://www.norwoodclub.com/) a spectacular landmarked townhouse nestled away in the heart of NYC. This bride and groom heard STRUNG at a private event in 2010 and the impression was so strong they knew that there could be no other. STRUNG can perform as a straight ahead string quartet or an electric one, and their song selection can go from common to obscure. What makes them so popular though, is the outrageous level of musicianship coupled with their fantastic personality. When STRUNG plays your event, guests gush. (http://www.orchestrationsinc.com/orchestrations.html).
The seduction of The Bowery Hotel (http://www.theboweryhotel.com/index.php) is unavoidable and it’s rock star meets old world beauty is perfection. Lauren and Matthew’s November wedding was also perfection with some of the coolest song choices and a perpetual motion the entire night. Tzo Ai and her intuitive team at Ang Weddings and Events (http://www.angweddingsandevents.com/) streamlined everything, and the atmosphere was sublime. SHI , our fabulous female cello quartet set the tone during ceremony and cocktails and Sasha’s lusty vocals swayed through dinner. (http://orchestrationsinc.com/FourLeafClover.html). Our house DJ with conga accompaniment created a high energy club vibe for the reception, and when “Its Time for the Percolator” came on, guests were ready!
Erica and Kassem kissed the year goodnight with their lush NYC wedding at The New York Palace (http://www.newyorkpalace.com/). Elegant and iconic, it was the perfect location for uniting their cultures and families. Hilary (http://orchestrationsinc.com/Avalon.html) crooned vintage jazz and holiday tunes with the warmth, and romance of a New York City Christmas. Our house DJ stepped it up for the reception mixing in the special Lebanese tunes of the grooms family and making the dance floor home to all.
Our year here at Orchestrations has been full and joyous and we’re so grateful to have written the soundtrack for so many beautiful couples. “Music – makes the people – come together – yeah!” We agree, Madonna. Here Here.
Central Park (http://www.centralparknyc.org/) is one of the most beautiful places on earth and descending into this lush haven in the midst of the midtown bustle is always special. Orchestrations breathed harmony into the Arsenal in Central Park with our custom orchestra, SYMPHONIA. In this instance, SYMPHONIA was made up of 10 strings, harmonica, and a 4-piece vocal choir to perform our original arrangement of MOON RIVER by Henry Mancini. This song, made famous in the film BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S with Audrey Hepburn is quintessential New York, and when the moving parts came together it took our breath away. It was a beautiful scene set for this stunning Dutch couple by our innovative and indefatigueable friends Mayra and Xochitl at ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID (http://www.alwaysabridesmaid.us/) .
The Loeb Boathouse in Central Park (http://www.thecentralparkboathouse.com/) holds our heart here at Orchestrations and it’s a pleasure to work with veteran manager, Peter Bischoff at this lakeside oasis. With Bellafare’s (bellafare.com) immaculate and impeccable guidance, Katie and Christopher chose STRUNG, our electric string quartet – and a fabulous choice of harder than usual rock for the ceremony which when played by STRUNG was outrageous in the best possible way! (http://www.orchestrationsinc.com/orchestrations.html. They also surprised Katie’s brother with STRUNG’s arrangement of a song that he wrote earlier that year. We love how Katie and Chris thought outside the proverbial string quartet and used music to make a statement.
There are fewer locations as lovely as the Hamptons in the fall and Sofia Crokos (http://www.sofiacrokos.com/) created perfection. Brianne was a beautiful bride taking her vows in an intimate church setting to the sounds of the beautiful women of SHI and their dulcet cellos (http://orchestrationsinc.com/ShiQuartet.html). The cocktail reception was just a moment away on the sprawling lawn of Brianne’s family home. The guests wore white amongst the gentle lanterns and natural beauty of autumn and DESFINADO’s lusty serenade of bossa nova, pink martini tunes and the native sounds of Portugal set just the right vibe (http://orchestrationsinc.com/Desafinado.html)
Orchestrations transforms black and white ideas into awesome, colorful, reality. What will your ceremony be like in 2013?
Orchestrations surrounds itself with one-of-a-kind talent, helping our one-of-a kind clients create the perfect vibe for their events. Working with different people and their different styles is what we do best, and we have been extraordinarily fortunate in 2012 to be a spectacular part of some of New York’s finest events.
Ariana and Eric’s guests arrived at The Metropolitan Club (www.metropolitanclubnyc.com) on May 20th and were immediately entranced by the sounds of celestial harp. Whisked into cocktails to enjoy our French Musette jazz trio with accordion, slide guitar and acoustic base – guests wondered if they were in a Woody Allen Movie! The ceremony included a middle eastern cantor singing with, and here is the piece de résistance: a 10 piece string orchestra playing fresh custom arrangements of traditional Hebrew and French songs as well as a few of the bride and grooms favorite tunes. The reception rocked with our international and multi genre DJ along with African and Latin percussion and two of our “Vipers” (http://orchestrationsinc.com/ViperQuartet.html). Ariana and Eric wanted to surprise and delight their guests with music every step of the way. They were beyond thrilled and The Metropolitan Club was transformed.
Kristin and Lauren are among the loveliest event planners in the Tri-State area and working with Bellafare (www.bellafare.com) is always a joy. Matt and Emily agreed when they entrusted them with their big day on June 2nd at Skylight One Hanson (http://www.skylightnyc.com/onehanson/onehanson.html) Skylight One Hanson is an art-deco masterpiece located inside the Williamsburg Savings Bank clock tower and one of Brooklyn’s most famous landmarks. SHI (http://orchestrationsinc.com/ShiQuartet.html) provided a serene and sumptuous atmosphere as guest arrived. An all-women’s cello quartet, these musicians are requested everywhere and the harmonies they create with the deep soulful sounds of the cello are unparalleled. Creating a soundtrack from indie to popular, classical to R&B, these ladies can arrange anything and their music will transport you. This is definitely not your mother’s string quartet. Acoustic was the request for Matt and Emily’s ceremony but electric was a “must” for cocktail hour.
Forevermark, a diamond brand from the De Beers group of companies, launched its newest campaign, “The Center of My Universe” on July 31 with a cocktail party at the National Arts Club (http://www.nationalartsclub.org). It was the perfect atmosphere for our buoyant big band. Not too much from the horn section – it was just the right amount of pomp and circumstance to add more sparkle to an already sparkling event. The chic celebrities dripping in diamonds were thrilled with the unique partnership of music and beauty. Always a treat to work with John Wyatt from Sonnier & Castle (http://www.sonnier-castle.com) –and the illustrious David Rodgers who produced the event. The star of the evening of course: a 14.58-carat oval Forevermark diamond designed by Waris Ahluwalia.
Lawrence, New York was the ideal setting for Jennifer and Michael on August 25th. They chose our genre defying acoustic guitar duo with an all Beatles ceremony and the sexy music of Spain during cocktails. The guitar duo is one of our favorite ensembles as it can twist and turn to accommodate almost any sound, genre and vibe while being equally accessible and arresting…and nicely priced.
Continue to follow our blog as we celebrate our uniquely personal talent and the fabulous events that we enhanced over the course of 2012. Our artists can be seen on our website, http://www.orchestrationsinc.com and around NYC. Are you ready to talk about the soundtrack for your next event?
We can do the traditional or the traditional with a twist. We can dream up unconventional ideas, innovative concepts, and creative formats – ones you may not have considered or even knew existed.
We can salsa-fy Sinatra or blitz Mozart with blues.
We can create a vibe that allows for on-going conversation – stops the conversation – or becomes the conversation.
We’ve scouted thousands of musicians and entertainers and built relationships with the best. Our recommendations represent those we’ve met – heard – seen – know.
For us, that means keeping a perpetual pulse on the music and entertainment scene. For you, that means an inspired event.
